Spring/ I'm Making Believe

If you were reading my blog last year, do you remember that I went to a baby shower in March?  On March 25th, to be precise! The leaves were in their full Spring green at that time whereas this year, we are just now beginning to see the leaves to bud on the trees... I am not complaining, mind you, just making an observation that Spring is later than usual.  I took the following photos from the back of my sister's van on the way to the baby shower.  It really was a fine day, the countryside looks nice, don't you think?

Of course, this should look just like this within just a few weeks, so I am not absolutely NOT complaining!  I saw on the news that earlier this week, exactly half of the country was covered in snow! We even had a few snow flurries yesterday in the Atlanta area and it was one of the coldest days we have had (even though technically it is Spring!).  I could show you photos of the bare trees now, but since we don't usually take photos like that, you will just have to believe me!

I found another song for you.  It is Bill Kenny of the Inkspots singing with Ella Fitzgerald.  I think this should be played on the radio, on the hour, every hour, for all to hear!  Enjoy!

    1. I wonder how many people will want to move south after this winter after all that snow? Snowbanks that are 6 to 8 feet tall, wow!

  3. At least you have SOME green there, Kay. Spring being late this year - you can say that again!! We've had snow again on Saturday and Monday, and although it is largely gone from roads and pavements, it is still WAY too cold for my liking, and for that of the birds and flowers etc.

    1. A late Spring is better than no Spring at all! We might go straight into Summer, and I am not kidding!

  4. What a long winter it's been for a lot of us. I'm hoping it means we'll have a great summer to make up for it. Love the song!

    1. Summer in England is really what I would call a nice Spring! It's lovely!
Glad you love the song too!

  5. We have a friend in Tokyo who said spring came earlier this year and the cherry blossoms were all in full bloom. It's a good thing we went last year to see the blossoms. If we went this year at the same time, we would have missed it.

I sure hope spring comes soon for you, Kay and that fall stays longer than usual.

    1. Oh, I remember you trip to Japan and how much you enjoyed the cherry blossoms!
Our cherry trees this time last year were in full bloom, this year...not yet!
Thank you for your hope for me! Fall holds the future hope of the colorful leaves and Yellow Daisies, can't wait!

  7. I do know what you mean...I try not to complain about the late winter, but it's hard. A year ago it was green here too, but not this year. It will come and before you know it we'll appreciate air conditioning.

    1. I know, I am wondering if we will go straight into summer and never even know a Spring day this year!

  8. Isn't that the shower where you took the diaper cake? It doesn't seem like it's been that long.

Spring will come, we are looking at azaleas here, and the pollen is falling from the pines.

The pecans have not budded yet, and you can't food the pecan trees. When they bloom, you know it's time to plant, so i'll ask Mr. Herman to let me know when the pecans bloom.

    1. Yes, that IS the shower where I made the diaper cake!
Thanks for remembering! Time flies, doesn't it?
Last year at the end of March, it set a record for pollen at over 9000! Yesterday, the count was 9!!!
Yes, I typed both of those figures correctly...9000 last year, 9 this year. Just goes to show what I mean about not having any leaves on the trees just yet!!

  9. It is much later this year. Last year at this time, I'd already planted my veggies because it was so warm. This year, I'm waiting until April 15th....because it is COLD, COLD, COLD at night. And, honorary daughter that I am, of course I remember last March's baby shower!!! Tee hee.... Have a beautiful weekend and a Happy Easter, sweet Kay!

My Dad usually has more planted also, but as you say...COLD, COLD, COLD it has been!
He has potatoes planted but that is all.

    1. We had warmer weather in January so that is one reason that this cold weather is so strange! Our winter was quite mild! Crazy weather!
Thanks so much for your comment. I hope it warms up for you very soon!

  11. It worries me that your sister drives on the wrong side of the road!
We have the same situation as Meike - still some snow around, especially in those spots where the sun doesn't reach where it is up to eight inches deep still. My poor flowers, which were comning on so well, are still buried.

    1. My other sister drove in England but I never did, I never trusted myself to turn onto the right side (or left side, I should say!)
You know, Nature astounds me in that even though you have had this much snow, most plants will recover and thrive! Wishing you a fantastic Spring (when it comes!)

  12. Hi Kay! I enjoyed your green photos even if they were from last year! We had twelve inches of snow recently, but it is vanishing to show brown, brown, brown, brown! I am so ready for spring ~ it's warm today but more snow on the way! I went to the blog you recommended and became a follower of Paul. Thank you for sending me his way. Enjoyed the mellow song! Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

    1. Hello Louise! :-)
Oh, I bet anyone living with snow can understand your "brown, brown, brown" statement!
So happy that you visited Paul. You will really like him!
Happy that you liked the song too!
Thanks for your well wishes, I appreciate them.

  13. Hello Dear Kay, yes I remember your photos from last year. These are just as beautiful. Thank you for your thoughts and well wishes. I had a very rough time last year with my parents but I'm happy to say that considering their age they are both doing better. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the future. I wish you and your family a very blessed Easter and a happy springtime.

  14. We've been much colder this year too, but we live in the North and it's usually cold now...however, I thought you'd have it a bit better. Sorry! Last year our trees were just starting to bloom and then April came in very cold and froze all my lilacs...hopefully this year we'll be OK and have a nice couple of lilac trees full! Have a wonderful Easter!

    1. We have had nothing to contend with like you have had in the North. Your very cold snowy winter just means that we have had some effects of those cold fronts too which has made our Spring come much later than usual.
Lilac trees! Oh, we don't have those but they do in England and the smell of them are a beautiful memory!
Happy Easter to you and yours, my friend!
